"Lavender is Blue" is not only the coming-of-age novel of a musically gifted girl but also the story of the ugly duckling who feels out of place everywhere. It is only after Ricarda learns to embrace herself and her talent that she can transform into a swan. She begins her studies at the music academy and finds her affinity among other students with whom she plays music. With her love for the young Polish violinist Filip, she ultimately comes of age.
