From the South Cape to the North Cape: traversing Norway from south to north is a significant challenge even for experienced long-distance hikers. The 3000 km trek Norge på langs is one of the most impressive and remote hikes in the world. Nevertheless, Martin Kettler takes on this long-distance hike—his first of its kind—and fulfills a long-held dream. The author, born in the heart of Switzerland, describes his dream in "Step by Step Northwards" and what planning and preparation were necessary to make it a reality. He also shares his experiences of failure: the abandonment of his first attempt in 2013 and the resumption of the journey two years later.
