Sigrid Fery, a commissioner with the criminal police in Mosbach, must work with her colleague Roland Saalberger to solve the murder of a young woman. Initially, the two do not find each other particularly likable. The circle of suspects becomes increasingly confusing due to the statement of an elderly lady. Suddenly, Roland Saalberger's past confronts him, bringing with it a dark secret. Next, the commissioners find themselves in deadly danger, and a race against time begins. In the second case, the commissioners are called to investigate a murder at the Mosbach vocational school. Teacher Rainer März has been killed, and this happens on a crucial parent-teacher conference day, as there were students at risk of failing in März's class. The commissioners investigate among seemingly perfect individuals and deeply troubled family backgrounds. Suddenly, a shooting occurs at the vocational school.
