Kaspar, 24 years old, Swiss, a business administration student, lives with his mother in southern France. His father passed away a long time ago. He is on a train to Frankfurt and, on a whim, accepted the invitation from his fellow student Ute to spend a few days at her family’s farm in the Rhön. Contrary to his expectations, the trip opens up new worlds for the young man, who oscillates between world-weariness and rebellion, youthful desires and sharp perception, worlds he had not encountered before. Ute's aunt, a sausage manufacturer, is part of this experience. When he unexpectedly inherits the sausage factory six months later, his life is thrown off course. Should he sell the sausage factory or become a sausage manufacturer who won’t be intimidated by the mafia-like competition? Kaspar is tossed between these opposing forces.
