Hiking and mountaineering in the over 3,000 kilometers of the Argentine Andes are among the most popular tourist activities. The mountainous regions of Patagonia, with their vertical granite towers like Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy, as well as the Central Andes with the highest mountain in the Americas, Aconcagua (6960 m), are famous.
