'Tup-e Morvari' is the story of a Persian war cannon named 'Marwari' that reaches the modern century after a journey of several hundred years. By describing the past and fate of this cannon through the lens of history, Sadegh Hedayat (1903-1951) discusses the history of Iran, leaving nothing untouched by the sharp edge of his criticism. Tup-e Morvari reached the Shah regime during Hedayat's lifetime through a strange path, vividly illustrated by the author's strong imagination in his original manuscript. The sharp critique of the Shah, the mullahs, and Islam in part of this book led to Hedayat's work 'Tup-e Morvari' being subjected to censorship both during the Shah's era and after the Islamic Revolution, and it has not been published under any of the governments following the author's death.
