Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, born on August 9, 1962, in Völklingen, is a German politician. She has been the Minister-President of Saarland since August 2011, the chairwoman of the CDU state association Saar since June 2011, and a member of the CDU federal executive since November 2010. Kramp-Karrenbauer graduated from the Marie-Luise-Kaschnitz-Gymnasium in Völklingen in 1982. From 1984, she studied law and political science in Trier and Saarbrücken. After completing her degree in 1990 as a Magistra Artium, she served as the policy and planning advisor for CDU Saar from 1991 to 1998, and then as the personal advisor to the chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, the later Minister-President of Saarland, Peter Müller, in 1999. From 2000 to 2007, Kramp-Karrenbauer was the Saarland Minister for the Interior, Family, Women, and Sports, and then served as the Minister for Education, Families, Women, and Culture until 2009.
