Product details

Anna Freud was not only the daughter and companion of her famous father, but also an independent pioneer of child psychoanalysis. As the youngest child of Sigmund and Martha Freud, she initially trained under her father, but in the 1930s, she further developed psychoanalysis independently in this new field. Together with her lifelong friend Dorothy Tiffany-Birlingham and others from the new Viennese social psychological movement, such as Eva Rosenfeld and August Aichhorn, she forged new paths in pedagogical and therapeutic work with young children at the Hietzinger School. In 1938, these bold initiatives came to an abrupt end when the Freud family had to emigrate to London. This book recounts the significant decades of psychoanalysis and cultural history through various locations where Anna Freud lived and a complete collection of photographs from her time in Vienna.
