Product details

Based on Barthes' "Fragments of a Language of Love" and Foucault's "The Will to Knowledge," Didier Eribon pursues a political and theoretical position that these books share: the rejection of Freudo-Marxist currents after May 1968. His text is also a search for a way out of the overwhelming influence of psychoanalysis. This is understood as a normative power that neither grants independent significance to homosexuality nor to the position of women, and it continues to resonate today. Eribon concludes—referring to Judith Butler—on the necessity of not exclusively relying on psychoanalytic concepts in a radical queer theory. He suggests reviving the counter-movement that emerged in philosophy during the 1970s.
