Product details

In the first Manifesto for Philosophy (1998), the aim was to counter the discourse on the end of philosophy and to demonstrate its continued existence underground. The second manifesto is influenced by the resurgence of the power of ideas, especially in a world that is continuously and increasingly threatened. In an extension of the first manifesto, which primarily deals with the ontological question of the being of truths, Badiou now turns to the question of the manifestation of truths and develops a terminology of truth bodies or subjectifiable bodies for this purpose. Formally, the second manifesto relates to the volume The Logics of Worlds in the same way that the first manifesto relates to the volume Being and Event: Both aim, according to the author, to provide a brief, simple, and immediately mobilizable form to the elaborated, completed, and formalized themes of those major works.
