Marc Rölli embarks on a quest for immanence in the texts of Spinoza and Leibniz, drawing on Deleuze. Immanence serves as a rich source of inspiration for contemporary philosophy: in the discourse surrounding ontology and realism, in the effort to revitalize philosophical process figures (contingency, time, becoming), or even amidst the question in political theory of how power and critique unfold immanently. The particular findings of this quest are found in Spinoza's conception of the power of the affects, in Leibniz's possible worlds, and in a notion of the Other that resonates with the heights of postcolonial critique.
