What is meant by "world," the "course of the world," and so on? Starting from these questions and engaging in a dynamic dialogue with Kant and Wittgenstein, the first part of the volume, "Worldliness," outlines a materialistic and consciously anti-metaphysical idea of the world as a shared space that can unfold into the public sphere but also carries the risk of a fundamentally apolitical stagnation. Just as worldliness does, the "use" represents an undeniable fact that is implicitly suggested by life itself. Beginning with ordinary use—whether of language or objects—the second part of the volume delves into that use of the self upon which every other use is based. For example, acting in theater and language, with the alienation effect and the pronoun "we," form the laboratory for a use of life that is irreducible.
