Product details

Typology, Volume II of the Review series, presents 160 buildings from Hong Kong, Rome, New York, and Buenos Aires that have been analyzed over the past two years at the chair of Emanuel Christ and Christoph Gantenbein at ETH Zurich. This subjective and selective inventory of primarily anonymous houses in the four mentioned metropolises provides a foundation for new urban designs. The 160 buildings are showcased with more than 700 floor plans, axonometric drawings, photographs from both older and newer dates, as well as concise information. In addition to an introduction by the two editors, there are four texts by renowned guest authors that explain the interplay between the various actors, particularly the influence of urban building regulations on the structures. Thus, the book also emphasizes the potential for contemporary urban architectural designs today.
