Product details

The Original! This book marks the beginning of modern pilgrimage to Santiago in Austria. This book (1st edition 1999) sparked a real boom. After the renaissance of the old pilgrimage routes in Spain and France, the Tyrolean Peter Lindenthal explored the traces of medieval pilgrims in Austria from 1996 to 1998 and established the definitive route for modern pilgrims across Austria with this hiking, pilgrimage, and cultural guide: from Wolfsthal on the Slovakian border through Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck to Feldkirch and further to the pilgrimage center of Einsiedeln in Switzerland. The author succeeded in combining authenticity, walkability, and pilgrimage. His route runs on or parallel to the medieval Camino de Santiago. Where the old paths have been expanded into busy roads, he diverts to beautiful forest and field paths.
