Product details

From a literary-historical perspective, the theme of mountains, mountain ridges, and mountain experiences in highbrow literature still awaits a scientifically grounded exploration. This rather unoriginal conviction of the editors and their preference for figures such as the mountain jumper in Heinrich Hoffmann's "Struwwelpeter," for novels like Alfred Döblin's "Mountains, Seas, and Giants," or Christoph Ransmayr's "The Flying Mountain" served as the starting point for the creation of this publication, a collaborative effort by mountain enthusiasts from four countries. It aims to provide the interested reader with insights into the wealth of mountain motifs in German-language literary works. Contributions are included from Edward Bialek, Rafal Biskup, Peter O. Büttner, Hans-Heino Ewers, Anna Gajdis, Agnieszka Gawron, Beata Giblak, Katarzyna Grzywka, Detlef Haberland, Joanna Jendrych, and Jürgen Joachimsth.
