The teaching profession, along with an entire discipline, finds itself in a significant tension field like few other professions: Even though the central importance of the education and training system for the reproduction of society is repeatedly emphasized almost everywhere, not just in political speeches, the public image of pedagogy is largely structured differently and is predominantly characterized by patterns of contempt. This peculiar contradiction is explored in the anthology that addresses the issue of "contempt for pedagogy" from various perspectives and with very different facets. The well-known theme of contempt can also be read as contempt towards educators, the educational field, and educational science, as well as from the perspective of pedagogy itself.
