Foreword: "About Grammar" is a complete revision and expansion of a teaching letter for teachers at study colleges from 1995. The overview is aimed at all those who teach German as a Foreign Language (DaF) or academic subjects in German, both domestically and abroad, especially those who wish to familiarize themselves with the didactic principles underlying the exercise grammars published by Liebaug-Dartmann. However, it may also be of interest to advanced students and anyone who finds grammar to be merely a collection of many unrelated rules unsatisfactory; it is, among other things, an attempt to bridge the gap between grammar theory and teaching practice. "About Grammar" includes a practice-oriented dependency grammar model as well as experiential data from grammar instruction, particularly regarding comprehension issues.
