Trotsky wrote his memories of Lenin in the three months following Lenin's death in 1924. This is not a complete biography, but rather the drafts and sketches of Lenin's most important comrade in the Russian Revolution and in the fight against the bureaucratization of the young Soviet Republic. The first German edition was withdrawn and destroyed by order of the Russian authorities through the party publishing house of the KPD.
