How can children and parents be positively supported during the transition from kindergarten to primary school? This and other challenges are addressed by early childhood and primary educators in their professional practice. The collaboration between the two educational institutions plays a crucial role in ensuring a successful transition. Therefore, a theoretical and practical engagement with transition-related content during training or studies is of great importance. The authors investigate, through a nationwide qualitative and quantitative study in Germany, to what extent the transition is integrated into the qualification pathways of educators, primary school teachers, and childhood educators. In addition to a current assessment, forward-looking recommendations for action are provided, along with exemplary study concepts.
