The term transition management has developed into a promising concept for the social and professional reintegration of (ex-)prisoners and offenders in recent years, and has been implemented in initial approaches. It is based on the understanding that only a structured, overarching, and systematic approach, which treats the work in correctional facilities, the transition itself (preparation for release), and the period after release as a unified process, shows corresponding success. This volume provides an initial overview of the theoretical background of the transition management concept. It outlines the situation of particularly burdened offenders, characterized by long careers, relapses, and various problems. Processes of marginalization and societal stigma are also addressed.
