The success of a company primarily depends on the performance of its employees. An individual's performance behavior is determined by their respective motivation. Therefore, motivation is a topic that companies must inevitably address. From this necessity arises the question of how to influence employee motivation and which methods seem suitable. This paper examines the Fish! philosophy as a potential motivational approach for employees. The objective of this work is to assess the approach as a viable motivational method. The examination of theoretical foundations will provide insights for this purpose. In the first part, the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, Washington, is presented through the success story of its owner, John Yokohama, highlighting the work attitude of the employees at the fish market.
