The core of the study is the insight gained from multilevel analysis that a hospital's reputation transfers to its patients through a practicing physician. Furthermore, Susanne Hanefeld demonstrates that within a hospital, there is not only a corporate reputation but also a departmental and a chief physician reputation from the perspective of practicing physicians and patients. Additionally, she shows that both stakeholder groups develop different reputations influenced by different determinants. The findings thus provide starting points for level- and stakeholder-specific reputation management to achieve business success.
