The book is divided into 14 experiential and learning units. Each unit includes reading texts, writing assignments, and dictation texts. It specifically addresses the often very different spelling abilities and encourages the production of original texts. A limited vocabulary, focused on the most commonly used words, is developed. Puzzles, rhymes, word games, and short texts make the workbook very varied. Throughout the diverse exercises, children are always assisted by a fox and a beaver with funny ideas. They have the opportunity to create their own vocabulary cards with words that need special practice. The layout of the pages allows students to complete all lessons independently at home. In addition to clear work instructions, there are also numerous self-assessment opportunities provided.
