In private law, one is confronted with the question of what requirements should be placed on the definiteness of legal transactions and procedural actions in various contexts - specifically in the law of contractual obligations, in rights of disposition, in property law, as well as in the context of the transfer of claims, and also in recognition and enforcement proceedings. Against the backdrop that such questions are primarily considered in isolation within the various subfields of law, the study explores whether a unified principle of definiteness can be identified in private law.
