The textbook is designed for beginners and advanced learners, with or without prior knowledge of other Slavic languages. It can be used in language courses at universities, adult education centers, and other educational institutions, as well as for self-study. A key feature of the textbook is the close connection between grammar and language practice. Each grammar topic is introduced in the context of a relevant everyday text, thoroughly explained, and illustrated and reinforced with appropriate exercise materials. All texts and exercises are selected and designed to provide speaking opportunities in the classroom and to promote the development of communicative skills. As a result, the main focus is placed from the very beginning on free speaking while applying acquired grammar knowledge. The appendix includes a brief grammar of Ukrainian and solutions.
