The transitions between humans and animals are fluid. At least the transitions between certain people and animals. Who doesn't know the swimmer at the public pool, who emerges from the water with a round head, bulging eyes, and a mustache, looking so astonishingly like a beloved sea creature that you rub your eyes in disbelief? A seal! Or the mouse-like, moth-eaten, duck-like types, the frog-faced, goat- and predator-like people. They exist, don't they? Nadia Budde knows them too. She even has a special eye for such human-animal transitions and takes great joy in them. And so she can't help but seek them out and gather them together: bears, hyenas, reptiles, until in the end, they all sit at one table. And I wonder, why do we even have zoos? Truly a completely unnecessary institution.
