Dick's short story "Minority Report," published in 1956, the author of the preceding quote outlines a turning point within contemporary social constitution and a paradigm shift in the approach to the phenomenon of crime. The protagonists of Dick's envisioned future live in a completely crime-free society, as they are able to foresee future legal violations and eliminate their perpetrators before they occur. This utopia of omnipotent control has little in common with our current reality.
