Drawn by Charles Lyall in 1894, this marks the beginning of a series of uniform representations of the armies at Waterloo in 1815. Charles James Lyall was one of the classic English uniform artists at the beginning of the 20th century. Lyall compiled numerous series depicting the British, Indian, and various European armies and eras. His works can be found in major uniform collections. In this work, created in 1894, the appearance of the British Army is presented on 75 plates, showcasing all branches of service and important regiments that participated in the famous Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Each unit is depicted on one or more plates, along with the various ranks. The staff and specialized troops are also included. The plates are supplemented by the two editors, Markus Gär.
