Product details
Friedrich Jaennicke (1831-1907), primarily a railway official, published numerous works in the fields of art techniques and applied arts, including manuals on various painting techniques. He also wrote theoretical and art historical essays, establishing himself as a skilled art writer. Following an introductory section that covers materials and tools as well as the theory of watercolor painting, particularly color theory and harmony, Jaennicke provides an extensive practical guide that introduces beginners to the fundamentals of watercolor painting, from brush handling and color mixing to coloring, perspective, and contrast. The volume concludes with a brief introduction to the technique of wood painting. This is a reprint of the second, expanded edition from 1877.
