Bernhard Dietrich, legal advisor to the Plauen Chamber of Commerce, undertook a research trip to Asia Minor in 1907, primarily to open up a source of new aesthetic inspirations for industry. Upon his return, he decided to compile his findings in the present volume. Dietrich describes both contemporary embroidery and older forms, illustrated with numerous images. This is a carefully revised reprint of the original edition from 1911.
