From a young age, Charles Stowe, the son of a London tea merchant, is fascinated by the secrets of tea. The world of a thousand scents and flavors enchants the young man so much that he sets out to import the rarest Chinese tea to England. His plans are thrown into disarray by his encounter with the mysterious Loan. The beautiful woman seems more desirable to him than the finest tea. However, Loan belongs to the powerful tea mogul Lu Chen, who has only one weakness: opium. Charles is allowed to spend seven days and nights with Loan on the condition that he leaves the area immediately afterward.
