When the ambitious student Machgub realizes that there are no jobs without the right connections, he finds himself forced to agree to a deceptive arrangement: he is to marry a woman who has lost her innocence in order to save her honor, without having seen his bride beforehand. Furthermore, the seducer of this girl, a high-ranking official, continues to demand regular visitation rights with his lover. In return, Machgub receives a position in the ministry. What initially begins for him as a mere survival strategy soon reveals itself to be a Faustian pact with unforeseen consequences.
