The issue of subordination plays a major role in the Christian Church and especially in her view of marriage, but not only there. In every human interaction, the question of the distribution of power, of claims and justifications of authority of one over the other, is of crucial importance. Nevertheless, this issue is rarely reflected upon in the congregations and is often treated as a taboo. Due to grown traditions, there is a lack of a factual handling of the concept and application of power in the preaching, ministry and social behaviour of the church, which can lead to the fact that abuse is often either not perceived as such or is trivialised, reinterpreted and spiritualised. The theological shady tricks, sophisticated interpretations of Bible passages, and the sacred claims to authority of leaders or organizations are sometimes misunderstood.
