Disrespect, aggression, and ignorance not only characterize interactions on many schoolyards but also in wide circles of society. While there has always been posturing and scuffles, the number of reported violent crimes among young people has increased by 100 percent over the past ten years to 54,000 cases. The reasons for violent behavior are multifaceted, and the triggers are often trivial. Can the implementation of martial arts instruction help regulate and curb aggression and violence? Through holistic martial arts training, the threshold for using violence against the weaker increases, which also has an effect outside of training. Sports educator and black belt holder Timm Staeglich examines the intentions and goals of the 'Fighting' lesson in physical education, as well as the connection between martial arts and violence prevention through a study in a youth center. This work can help recognize the benefits of 'fighting together' and teach it in a socially responsible manner.
