The focus of Deiters' work is on the important insights into the structure of the central ganglion cells, the nature and significance of their processes, and how these interact with the fiber pathways of the central organs. Additionally, it addresses Deiters' theory of the central ganglion cell and the compelling evidence that the principles of the spinal cord can be recognized throughout the medulla oblongata and its continuation into the brain, as well as in the nerves originating from these parts. Although this fundamental view is not new, it has not been treated in detail in the manner presented here. This work was first published in the mid-19th century and provides the interested reader with a vivid and comprehensive understanding of the medical knowledge regarding the brain and spinal cord.
