Over 20 years ago, in the summer of 1994, the deployment of the DR-V 200 in East Thuringia came to an end. This locomotive, which was introduced in 1970 as series 120 and later as series 220 in 1992, quickly earned the nickname "Taigatrommel" due to its originally extremely loud noise level. Initially overlooked by railway enthusiasts because of its quirky appearance, the fan base for this rustic, robust, and very popular freight locomotive among the crew grew rapidly. By the time of German reunification, these aging machines had become absolute favorites among many railway fans. This volume recalls the great era of the V 200 in East Thuringia and the adjacent West Saxony through impressive black-and-white images and color photographs.
