The general interest in the small group of students known as the 'White Rose' is greater today than ever before. However, one member of this group has largely escaped attention: Traute Lafrenz. Now 92 years old, she is mentioned but her story has never been recorded until now. Her activities were crucial, yet they have received little recognition from posterity. She herself prefers to refer to herself as a 'witness of the time.' Lafrenz played a central role within the White Rose, but she was directly behind the front lines.
