When Christian Morgenstern died in 1914, less than half of his work had been published. After that, selection collections with uncertain text forms were released. It was only since the publication of the Stuttgart Complete Edition (1987 onwards) that the era of incomplete and embellished Morgenstern editions has become a thing of the past.
