Simsala nostalgically remembers the time when he attended school in the small town of Heitersdorf with Ruth and his other friends. How fun it was to astonish teachers and classmates with his magic tricks! But Mr. Oküpokü, a friend of his father's, ensures that Simsala soon forgets his troubles: on his flying garden bench, he takes him into the skies, coincidentally passing by Heitersdorf and turning the world there completely upside down: prison keys suddenly transform into delicious sausages, policemen chase after lone wandering felt slippers, and in time-labyrinths, Simsala and Ruth experience the most wondrous things.
