According to Max Weber, science does not encompass the entirety of the world. It cannot tell us what we should do. It does not create virtue, it does not restore order to the disenchanted world, and its orientation is somewhat relative. However, if this is the case with the "value-free" nature of science, what positive contributions does it make to practical and personal life? Weber answers: Science provides us with three indispensable cultural achievements: First, knowledge about technology, how to control life, external things, and human actions through calculation. Second, methods of thinking, the tools of the trade, and the training for them. Third, assistance in achieving clarity. Therefore, we can only survive if we remain committed to science: considering its limits while "passionately" utilizing its objectivity. Mathias Jung.
