Andreas Zimmermann, born on December 28, 1969, in Berlin, is a former football player and current football coach. The defender Andreas "Zimbo" Zimmermann began his career at Norden-Nordwest Berlin before moving to FC Spandau in 1991 and eventually to the then second division team Hertha BSC in 1992. There, he scored eight goals in 45 matches. In 1995, he transferred to 1. FC Union Berlin and in 1997 to the then regional league team LR Ahlen, now known as Rot Weiss Ahlen. In a total of 60 matches there, he scored five goals and helped the team gain promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2000.
