Product details
The work deals with the characterization of a new method for oil separation from surfactant-stabilized oil-in-water dispersions, achieved through oil coalescence during forced dispersion flow through hydrophobic, approximately 100 micrometer thick, microporous single membranes. With oil separation rates of up to 95% at flow rates of up to 680 m³/m²h, high technical relevance is demonstrated. A plausible proposal for the mechanism of action explains the physical influencing factors. The significance of the surfactant components is demonstrated as a problem of colloid chemistry.
