Even "quirky" constructions of our world are accessible to psychotherapeutic interventions and can thus be changed, but it is essential to first acknowledge psychotic worldviews, as they are subjectively real for the affected individuals. While those with psychotic and even delusional disorders may be seen as therapeutic challenges, psychotherapy can still be beneficial for them. Thomas Bock and Gerhard Dieter Ruf advocate for a calm approach to psychotic clients, even in acute situations. Ruf, as a systemic therapist, points to the functionality of psychoses in both social and biographical contexts; Bock incorporates psychotic experiences into therapeutic work.
