Baseis connects formal, linguistic, and content-related interests in Ancient Greek, focusing on the requirements of the Graecum exam. Baseis is a course that systematically teaches elementary grammar, essential terminology, and the tools for text analysis in 16 steps, each consisting of 10 pages, with a variety of exercises. The parallel use of grammar and dictionary is assumed. Baseis incorporates Plato's "Apology" as initial reading material in the language acquisition course and prepares students intensively from the very first page for independent comprehension of text meaning. The course exclusively works with original texts. Baseis is suitable for university courses, study groups in upper secondary schools, and as a self-study course. The accompanying booklet Baseis Extra contains the Apology (in Greek and in German translation) and offers exercises.
