The embodiment concept turns the previous discussion in psychoanalysis on its head with the guiding principle "Discovering the soul in the body": It is no longer just about deciphering body language, but about the insight that the body is causally involved in all mental processes, including feelings, thoughts, and memories. This represents a radically new perspective on the mind-body problem. As a result, embodiment has become an innovative concept that has found its way into both fundamental research and applied fields ranging from neuroscience to microbiology and genetics. The embodiment concept also offers a new perspective on early developmental processes.
