It is essential to regularly involve relatives in the psychosocial care for chronically ill or disabled children. How can this be achieved? There is a need for care that ranges from predominantly preventive measures to occasional psychotherapeutic offerings, depending on the experience of stress. However, the care structure remains incomplete, with focused preventive counseling approaches for siblings and their parents or families lacking. This book fills that gap: it presents a theoretically grounded concept based on the long-standing practical experience of the authors, aimed at specifically supporting siblings, which connects to the Hamburg COSIP concept for counseling children with physically ill parents. The child-centered and family-oriented counseling approach demonstrates how to assist the sibling and their family in coping with the challenges they face.
