Product details

Seventy years ago, on the night of July 27, 1943, the Hamburg firestorm was ignited: under the name "Operation Gomorrah," planned bombings by the British Royal Air Force and the American Air Force reduced large parts of Hamburg to rubble. Tens of thousands of people died, and more than a hundred thousand were injured. This experience has left a deep imprint on the memory of the city and its inhabitants, but how are these memories passed down through generations? Psychoanalysts and historians interviewed eyewitnesses and their families to trace the personal and familial repercussions of the war to this day and to examine, through this example, the long-term processing of traumatic war experiences.
