This work provides an introduction to the extensive plant technology of distribution networks. The demands on electrical systems and equipment for distribution networks are constantly increasing from various areas, such as legislation, safety technology, economics, reliability of power supply, environmental protection, spatial planning, customer requirements, and recently due to the energy transition. The technology of distribution networks, and thus the plant technology in public networks and industrial networks, is no longer a static matter; rather, professionals in this field are required to adapt to constantly changing conditions. Furthermore, individual specialists can no longer assume that they will fulfill the same function within the company for an extended period, but must demonstrate flexibility.
