Since the 19th century, Thuringian glassblowers have been creating not only the well-known baubles but also figurative tree decorations and small precious sculptures that reflect the spirit of the times. But is it kitsch or art? Anyone who has ever held a delicate glass bird with carefully painted feathers in their hand will not doubt: this is unique craftsmanship. Here, a distinctive treasure of forms has been preserved, which is now lived and developed in an independent tradition and stands out against cheap imports with high quality and originality. It’s no wonder that these small Thuringian artworks are collected worldwide.
