The treasury of the German Order in Vienna
German, Raphael Beuing, 2015More than 10 pieces in stock at third-party supplier
Product details
The Treasury of the Teutonic Order originated from a collection assembled by Grand Master Maximilian I, Archduke of Austria, at the beginning of the 17th century. The following centuries, up to the present display at the Grand Master's seat in Vienna, saw numerous losses as well as new acquisitions. The first printed, detailed catalog from the 19th century is a bibliographic rarity and completely outdated. The long-serving curator has cataloged the current collection, including the art treasures and rarities from the late Middle Ages to the present found in the other rooms of the Grand Master's residence, with the help of a number of other specialists using the latest research. All objects are presented in high-quality images.
